8/26/2022 – 100°+ Days this Summer

This summer has been especially hot in Texas. Outdoor activities have been practically inexistent. Personally, as an outgoing person, I sometimes spent days without leaving the house this past summer. Even though Texas has a couple 100°+ days every year, this year was different. According to The National Weather Service, in Dallas/Fort Worth, 2022 ranked 6th of all time in total 100°+ days with 47 100°days. Also, with 21 consecutive 100° days, 2022 ranked 6th as well on the greatest number of consecutive days. Yes–you heard that right—in DFW this summer there was a 21 day stretch of 100° weather. It was miserable me and my family. Even my dog spent as little time as possible outdoors. The National Weather Service also includes that in 2021, only 8 days were over 100 degrees. This summer was rough, but it has started to cool off. I hope the rest of the year does not include another 100 degree day.
